The Design Process & Elements

CONSULTATION

1

The first step is to have a chat and work out if we are a good fit. If you are a service provider, a coach or course creator, therapist, or you practice a methodology that supports people, know I have worked with many similar people.

PROPOSAL

2

Once we've talked, I’ll pull together a custom proposal with project outlines, your goals and quotes for each package.
If you want to book, I’ll send you my availability, along with an agreement to sign, and invoice.

HOMEWORK TIME!

3

Yep, you have a bit of homework to do.
You will need to create an inspiration board for your brand & new site on Pinterest, fill in a detailed design questionnaire and provide your content before we get started.

BRANDING

4

If you have chosen to have me create or refresh your brand, I’ll get to work on your mood board, colour palette and fonts based on what you’ve given me. If you have a full brand you love this is when you pass me all the info.

COPYWRITING & EDITING

5

I only build sites with professionally written copy, I can do this for you as I’m trained in the mystic ways of the words, or you can pass me your copywriters’ website copy and I will edit it to fit your new site structure.

WEBSITE

6

I will design and build a homepage for you, and when we’ve gone through it and you are happy I get on with the rest of the pages for you.
You will get a minimum of 1 revision, and you can add more if you would like them.

LAUNCH

7

Once we’ve completed the process and fulfilled any revisions, and you are completely happy with all the elements, you make your final payment and I will send you all your files, set your site live, and we are launched!!

EXTRA BONUS ROUND

8

If you have added any cheeky bonuses to your project such as SEO, connecting up your email platform or any other optional extras, this is when I get these all done for you too.

JASMINE ELMER, AUTHOR & TV PRESENTER

“It's like seeing myself.
I've been working in this industry for three years you know, I've never really seen myself properly like this.
It makes me really proud of everything that I've achieved,
I love it, you're amazing.”

Managing Our Project…

The Checklist

It’s important you know what your involvement is from the get go, so you can make sure you have everything ready and can accommodate the time in your diary.

Here’s what I need from you before I can get started - and don’t worry, I will help you get all this ready as part of my thorough and ongoing design service;

  • Content for your new site

  • Your URL

  • A Squarespace or Showit subscription

  • Photography

  • Links to email and social media

Create your inspiration board

On Pinterest, create a private board with inspiration for your brand, including: a minimum of 5 logos, 5 colour palettes, 5 patterns and 5 website designs.
If you get stuck, feel free to pin from my
design boards.
When you've filled your board, go through your pins and leave comments on your favourites stating what you like about them. This is really important - there could be loads of different elements in an image so I will need to understand which one is speaking to you!

Fill out your design workbook

You will be sent a form to fill in asking in-depth questions about your brand, your values and want you want from the design project.
You can go back and edit this at any time before we get started so take your time and answer in as much detail as possible!

Upload your website content to Asana

I need you to upload your website text & images to Asana 2 days before your project starts (I will send a reminder just in case you forget!).
The website copy document should include headings and button text, and clearly outline where things should go.

FAQs

  • Looking back my clients have almost all been coaches or course creators, they run memberships and unique programs. They have beliefs and knowledge they are passionate about sharing with their people.

The one constant is they provide a powerful service and have the testimonials to show it.

  • Prices start at £3000 and payment plans are provided as standard.

The final cost will depend on the specific extras you will need, as all businesses are different.

For instance you might need copywriting or a brand suite before I can deliver the site itself.

Once you have decided what you’d like to include in your package and how I can best help your business, I’ll send a proposal with some options for working together.

  • All projects have split payments plans. This depends on the quote for the project but will generally be a monthly payment up until we have finished working together, I can be flexible about how many months you would like to spread the payments over.

The first payment is taken as a non-refundable deposit to book the slot.

  • I predominantly design and build in Squarespace because it is such a well designed platform to hand over to my clients to manage. Sometimes an alternative platform is a more suitable fit with a business, so I also love to create in Showit.

I don’t work with Wordpress because it’s not suitable for my clients to manage themselves and needs a lot of additional plug-ins to provide security and functionality which are included in Squarespace as standard.
But - I can recommend some amazing friends that do!

  • A clear idea of the problems you are wanting to solve is the best place to start.

I will support you with every other aspect of what you will need, once we get started.

  • I include lots of optional extras in my quotes to allow you to choose a package that suits your budget and needs, and so you can see a breakdown of how much the elements are.

This could be sourcing stock photography, helping you find a photographer, refreshing or building on an existing brand, copywriting, SEO, integrating your email marketing or course platform, setting up a CRM.

  • I aim to launch your website 2-6 weeks after I have received all your content.
This totally depends on your needs, availability, and content.

If you add branding or copywriting this will add a week or two at most.

If you add SEO or integrations, these are done after the new site is published.

  • My design slots are usually booked a month or two in advance, and I hold some space for smaller integration projects too, but if you have a strict deadline like a course or book launch, get in touch and I will see what I can do!

So, What Next?

Now you know better what is involved, did you have any questions? Is anything missing?

We can check through your project, your business goals, your budget, and find the best solution for you.

As well as the digital arts, I also help my clients strategise and map out their goals in a way that considers their busyness as much as their business. Maybe that is the next step that will help you work out what is the most important focus in your business right now.

And I might not be the right fit for you, that’s okay, I can recommend other amazing people to help you out too.
